So, I noticed on the website that custom barrels are available. https://www.maddogweapons.com/store/p705/Custom_Barrel_-_AR_or_Savage_Pre-Fit.html My brother and I have challenged each other to get and or build long range rifles and have a bit of a contest to see who can shoot the farthest. I was looking at a 6mm bench rest, but I noticed that it had similar velocities as the mongoose. So in theory, could you build a savage based 6mm mongoose and shoot out to 600 yds or farther? Given of course the twist rate is right for the bullet I want to use.

Yes - custom barrels are available, and as I can personal attest, of the highest quality. What are the rules of your contest? Is there a caliber limit? Price / cost limit? Cartridge capacity limit? Platform limit? Could you build a .416 Barrett or a .338 Lapua? While the 6mm Mongoose is an amazingly accurate round that punches far above it's parent-case class, it is outdone by larger cartridges such as the 6.5 Timberwolf or the GPC-family. If you are constrained to a 5.56x45mm-based cartridge, the Mongoose may very well be your best contender for an accurate long-range launcher!

I personally have seen a mongoose shoot to 560 yards in a 10-20 mph wind and taking out the horizontal stringing they all would have been 2-3" group. Like .4MOA, lol. All would have taken a 'yote out. That was in a 22" (I think) AR15.

Biggdawg's 6mm linyx gives 44.4 gr h2o but the volocity cost alot of powder. 6mm .243 has some great bullets if goal is group size not energy or terminal ballistics. To improve odds of winning shoot on a cool morning with no wind and use the lower recoil for a set range and burn 500 rounds same range 3 rounds at a time as if every thing depends on 3x10. No fourth shot untill next day. Keep track of conditions and group rain temp fog sun. Etc. And ln the day match you're prior experience same temp and weather will be true! No more than three rounds and act as if everything depends on those three. You will learn more that way.

No rules or restrictions, anything goes. I have a mongoose with an 18 inch barrel. I built it as a deer rifle, but it is real fun to blow up clay pidgens at 200 yards with, I have not shot it much past 300 do to the low power scope I have on it. I would like to build a 6.5 Timberwolf though.
