I am very interested in this caliber, for the reasons everyone else is who uses it is... but one thing of particular interest, is how the 95 SST's shoot.  I have hundreds of these so I want to make sure they work in this cat before I buy a barrel.

I also would like a 16" since it would be used with a suppressor. I would assume no more than 50 fps difference between an 18 and 16 based on my experience with the 25-223, does that sound about right?

Lastly, is the final design set at 1.7 max case length?  I saw in some load data posted a 1.68 case length a couple times.

Thanks

I trim fresh brass to the suggested 1.695 and have not encountered any problems. I usually do not have to trim much, if anything, after the fireform is complete.

I can't help directly with the SSTs in a Mongoose, however, my favorite load (and very accurate) is a pulled 95 Fusion. With the C.O.A.L. I use there is room to spare in ASC SS magazines and the chamber if you need to play with the length.

Sorry, can't help with the speed question...both of mine are 20". (The Fusion load runs 2775 fps)

Would the 1/9 be sufficient twist for the 90 Accubond and 95sst’s or is a 1/8 needed?

Yep 1:9 would be just fine.

I have some SST loaded but have not had time to shoot them. I might get to shoot them today or tomorrow if the weather holds out, will update if I get in some trigger time.

What is the preferred powders for the 90-95gr’ers? I have lots of TAC in stock.

I have only loaded 95 Fusion pulls (in the 90-95 grain range)and while I did achieve better velocity with H335, my groups were tighter and the SDs were lower with TAC. I tried Benchmark with accuracy results similar to TAC but the velocity was a little slower (~50fps) but my supply level of TAC kinda sealed the deal for me. I would disclose the load, however, when I tried it in my other Mongoose it popped 30% of the primers....so it is a little on the warm side. There are no pressure signs in my other barrel so I use this loading for hunting only...and man does it perform.

Weather was warmer yesterday so I had a chance to shoot a bunch of different loads. All will be updated under the load data topic. SST’s included
