Have more loaded just need time to shoot.  Have 1680,AR Comp, LeverRev,322 and some more work with powders already posted.  Really like the 8208 w/87 vmax this looks like it produces good velocities.  The few days that I managed to get in shooting time, the temps were around 75-80 but the bouts of sun and then clouds played havoc with the chrono.  3031 w/95's is way hot and on the slow side for me-- use caution with heavy bullets

Forgot to mention I'll revisit SWB the velocities jumped around too much and I don't know if it is the load or the chrono.  What do you think it might be?

FWIW, the accuracy was not good until I crossed the 2800 fps threshold but I did have a Magneto Speed on the barrel.
There were no signs of overpressure so I will try adding more fuel to the fire.

The Fusion load is a little on the warm side but it hammers deer. This loading runs right with (+/-20 fps) the factory .243 Fusion loading out of a 20" bolt rifle.

So, I bought 500 Midway 55gr SPFB Dogtown bullets to fire form my fresh formed LC Mpngoose brass. I plan on using H335 to load with and will use 6X45 data for powder charges loading just under 6X45 max. Since there is no OAL load data for these bullets in existence what OAL would be good for these. For this project 2.20 to 2.22 or so. They are shorties for certain. .650" length.

I was under the impression that these were the same bullets as Nosler SHOTS, however, I just measured one at 0.600" so this must not be the case. With this in mind, I personally would load them using the 55 SHOTs data. Loading them out to 2.20 does not leave much of the bullet in the case neck for retention and the (my) objective is to develop enough pressure to form the case. (I am not that concerned with accuracy during this phase, however, I would not hesitate to use them on varmints.)

With shots I loaded mine to 2.10” for best results, but I did load some at 2.13” IIRC and had a few stick in the bbl when chambered- so I went back to 2.10”. With that said ur bullet seems to be longer and u may get away with longer loading(in ur gun). Let the gun tell u where to put them and keep enough bullet in the neck of the case. And these loadings are very accurate while fire forming.

Hi guys,

I have a Mongoose load question that you guys might be able to help with. I'm looking to fire form some more brass and instead of using 8208 I want to clean out some of my old stock pile of powders that I haven't used in a good while. Does anyone have any good fire forming loads with any of these powders listed? The bullet is a Speer 85 gr. SBT and a CCI-450 primer. I'm not looking for max loads, just something that should cycle the action, form the case and be somewhat mild if possible. I know some of these powders are considered pretty slow but like I said, I'm just trying to burn old powder while forming new brass. Thank for the help.
