I'd like to reprofile a barrel to an ultralight for my wife's gun, has anyone reprofiled a factory mongoose with success? I'm worried it will kill the accuracy. Would love any input. Thanks in advance!

depending on length the more you lighten them the less consistent they will be, you will get more barrel whip and they will get hotter faster.

It would be primarily a light gun for deer hunting, heat shouldn't be an issue (as long as the point of impact doesn't change in the first 3 shots from heat). I'd like a 16-18 inch, I know if I reprofiled one of my 20 inch mongoose's (mongeese?) I might have issues with barrel whip, I'm hoping it won't be too bad in a 16. Or is there a way to order an ultralight from mdws? My wife likes the feel of my 6.5 Grendel (Gunner profile faxon 16 inch) it weighs around 22oz, I'm not sure how possible that weight would be though.

you can custom order a light weight from mdws using the custom order form never heard of an ultra light weight, i don't build stuff i deem as unsafe.

could make something like this but there is extra fees for turning so small takes much more time to avoid chatter.

it is .625 in the small sections with 750 gb can do 625 gb if wanted just not many of them out there. with 5/8 24 threads won't make them any smaller since it isnt a 223.

What would the .625 gb no threads cost? I know of 6 people who want me to build them lightweight versions of my 20 inch and shorter. Love the cartridge, for our island it does amazing for hunting. I might be able to set up a group purchase for lightweight barrels, if that would make it more worth your time.

For a 16" x-lite custom mongoose $325 shipped, if you bought 5 or more we would do for $300 ea. shipped. That is with blasted finish, if you want cerekote add $35 per barrel.

if interested contact me through email or Mark

Well it seems like when it comes to actually buying the stuff most people back out, I guess the group buy won't happen till they see one. So I'm in for one, let me know what I need to do.
